8 days in Switzerland - 1st day: Zurich

After spending a night shivering+slping at Heathrow Terminal 4, my neck muscles were aching when i woke up at around 5am. I was the one who slp the most compared to ppl in my group. They only slp for 2-3 hrs.

So we all woke up at 5am, wondering whether our luck will be better to hop on any planes flying to Swiss, either to Geneva or Zurich. Some morning flights to other destinations in Europe were cancelled due to heavy fog again. However, there was a flight to Geneva at 650am which was in 'waiting' status. We were quite anxious about this and seriously prayed hard so that the only morning flight wouldnt been cancelled. IF it was cancelled, we will have to change our 'Swiss Trip' to 'London & Cardiff Trip'.

Thank God, our prayers were answered well. We were so lucky to be given the seats on the only morning flight to Geneva at 650am. And so we were leaving on a jet plane....

We reached Geneva safely at around 9-ish in the morning. After purchased the 8-day Swiss Travel Pass (CHF 272 = roughly GBP 136), we then took a train fr Geneva Airport to Zurich Train Station.

I was reading 'Lonely Planet - Switzerland' on our way to Zurich. Photographer was Lav. =P

It took us around 2.5 hrs to reach Zurich. The train station was really really huge compared to Victoria Station in London or KL Sentral in KL. Trains arrived and departed fr this station very frequently. This would explain why we needed to pay so much for the travel pass.

We took this pic on our way to Zurich Youth Hostel. Lav was again the photographer. Thanks, Lav!

After checked-in to our room, we left our luggages there n quickly went to the city centre. Zurich was a big city where u can shop non-stop for one whole day. Well, i dun really fancy shopping but i still liked to jalan jalan on the highstreets as it was interesting to c the locals walking and shopping. Most of them were dressed up nicely as the living standard there was very high. Zurich and too-rich sound quite similar, don't you think so?

Part of a busy shopping street

Me n ZL standing in front of a stall selling Glühwein(boiled wine, it tasted like wine but it wasnt chilled but was boiled instead, a bit like chinese herbal wine =P)

Due to the delayed flight, we werent able to travel much in Zurich bside window-shopping. Well, it was pity that we din get to explore Zurich properly but i think we all got an experience in the airport which we will never forget. 'Everything happens for a reason.' For every lesson that we learnt in life, we need to pay for it. We wasted a day of our trip, but we got to know each other better and went thru a hard time together-gether.

Next post: goin to Lucern
