Happy or Sad?

If you are asked to choose to be either a happy or sad person, what will be your answer? Happy? Sad? Or Uncertain?

Hopefully, the answer will be ‘Be a happy person’, as I always believe that a happy person is the one who always think positively. If you choose to b sad or uncertain, don’t worry, start to think positive from this moment onwards.

So the question now will be: How to be happy?

The concept is quite simple. Here’s an example: in a test, what is the probability of scoring 100% exactly and that of scoring 50% and above? The answers are 0.01 and 0.50.

Now you will ask me: what is the connection between this example and the concept? Well, it is like this: it depends how you define the feeling ‘happy’.

For a smart student, s/he might feel that his/her hardwork and intelligence will only be justified only if s/he scores well in exams. Therefore, s/he works very hard to ensure that s/he can score 80% and above in every exam. However, not all the time she can achieve that because some of the exams are really difficult. So the person starts to keep blaming himself/herself for not working hard enough and thus studying 24/7 (of coz, this is impossible…hehe… It is just an example so don’t take it too seriously =P). In the end, she still fail to achieve what she wants as she cant concentrate in her exams due to poor health.

If you always think that being happy is sth which is unreacheable, you will never be a happy person. Happy is not sth which is very complicated. You don’t really need to work hard 24/7 just to be a happy person. Being happy is very simple. You just have to learn how to be grateful of what you already have.

Think about those who don’t have enough money to buy food to eat.

Think about those patients suffering terminal illness who have only limited days to live.

Think about those who have lost their home due to war.

Think about those who are too poor to study.

And the list can still go on…

While reading this, you are still breathing and living healthily. You might not be rich, but certainly you have enough money to sustain your life and also have the privilege to enjoy surfing the internet. You are not illiterate. You have a shelter to live in. etc etc…

Of course, we will face challenge in our lives. Even when you are so stressed that any additional problems will cause an immediate nervous breakdown to you, you must always remember that without going tru this period, you will never grow. Just stay calmly and think of ways to tackle the probs but not trying to find the methods of quitting it.

Happiness is not a luxury in our life. You will discover its presence in your life when you know how to appreciate your life.

i don't believe in comparing one state to another in order to explain or describe happiness. that's more like consoling oneself when s/he is unhappy. i don't think happiness shud be thought of that way. happiness is what comes from within..felt from within and is truly sincere in nature..; i'd like to see you being happy. that would make me happy. =)
